June At The Box Office
G.I. Joe Retaliation, Iron Man 3, and Star Trek Into Darkness were decent but not amazing.
Oblivion, After Earth, Now You See Me, and A Good Day To Die Hard let me down.
So June….will you be 2013s redemption?
Man Of Steel
There are REALLY good things circulating about this film. It has a chance to not only boost the Superman film franchise, and help DC/Warner-Brothers going forward. Thats a lot of hope to pile on Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and Superman, but they can take it.
This Is The End
From the guys who brought us the hilarious Pineapple Express and Superbad, comes a more expensive (or at least expensive looking) apocalyptic comedy. It could be the surprise hit of the year, with some fantastic comedic talent behind it.
World War Z
The question that lingers is: Did they just cash in on a semi-recognizable name and a flavour of the year? I generally trust Brad Pitt’s film choices, and really look forward to what he does in the horror/thriller genre.
Meanwhile Pixar continues to try and prove me wrong about sequels and prequels. The film will take the audience back to before the main characters were friends when I would have LOVED for them to move forward in the series and see what happened to “Boo”.
Much Ado About Nothing
Joss Whedon. Enough said. This film was a “vacation” for Mr. Whedon after finishing The Avengers and is already receiving positive response. A micro budgeted film like this could be exactly what 2013 needs.
So… All my hopes lie in Superman and Joss Whedon.
